next target at Zermatt
Ober Gabelhorn(4063m)
On
the shape ridgeline good view of the north face of the Matterhorn.
The way from Schwarzsee to Hernli Hutte. It takes about 2hrs.
The "Shoulder" of the Matterhorn.
Direct under the "Shoulder"at about 4000m. A few climbers can be seen in the face.
The normal route of the north-east ridge, the climbing is change form the east face to the north face at this "Shoulder".
The steep north face of the north face.
Matterhorn has two summits:Italian- und Switzerland-
The
geological summit is the Swiss Summit (4477m)
The left slant face is the north face.
Because Swiss-Summit is covered by snow and the Italian- has a Summit Cross, fast all of climbers come to this side to take a picture (like my cover page).
Typical "Matterhorn" picture
taken from Leiterspitzen (3409m) on the other side of the valley.
